We have a really busy three weeks ahead of us as we prepare for "Where in Colorado are HPA 4th Graders?" The 4th graders started their fracture fairy tales this week and boy, they are CREATIVE! They have taken original fairy tales and changed the setting to a place in Colorado. Some of them have changed the point of view and others are using more than one setting in their writing! Their ideas and love for this writing project is contagious and I am SO excited to see their completed stories. Their writing is seriously giving me goosebumps!
I found a fun poem about Cinderella that made me think of the fairy tales too. :) Enjoy! Cinderella, Soccer PlayerCinderella stunk at soccer. She was bad at basketball. Though equipment filled her locker she could hardly play at all. Baseball, football, hockey, tennis; none were Cindrella's sport. No one feared her speed or menace on the field or rink or court. Though she spent her evenings training, and on weekends she would drill, practicing without complaining, she could not improve her skill. Her performance wasn't stellar. Still, she was beyond reproach. That's because poor Cinderella had a pumpkin for a coach. --Kenn Nesbitt |
